I used to think that hotels next to airports were only convenient for catching a flight, but the surrounding area was definitely remote and had nowhere to go. It wasn't until this stay at Air China Hongqiao Airport Hotel - Air China BoYue Hotel that I completely broke my stereotype - it not only allows you to catch a flight on foot, but also captures the fireworks and convenience around Hongqiao when you go out.
The most amazing thing is definitely its transportation buff. When you come out of Hongqiao T2 Terminal, you don't have to go outdoors. You can walk along the hotel's exclusive indoor corridor for 10 minutes to reach the lobby, and you won't have to worry about wind, rain, or the sun at all. The next day, catching an early flight was more worry free. After checking out, I took the same corridor and could directly reach the check-in counter in 8 minutes. I even woke up 40 minutes later than my friends on the same flight and leisurely finished breakfast at the hotel. Not only the terminal building, but also the transfer channel of Hongqiao Railway Station can be reached within a 5-minute walk. Taking the high-speed rail to Suzhou and Hangzhou saves half an hour of commuting time compared to departing from the city center, and the efficiency of cross city business trips is directly maximized.
The convenience level around the hotel far exceeds expectations. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the Hongqiao Tiandi business district, where chain restaurants, internet famous cafes, and 24-hour convenience stores are fully equipped. In the evening after finishing my work, I strolled directly into the commercial district along the corridor, had a steaming hot meal of local cuisine, and also strolled through the newly opened cultural and creative store on the way, without having to take a taxi for a long journey. If you want to visit a bigger shopping mall, you can take the subway for 2 stops to Longhu Hongqiao Tianjie, where you can find everything from chain brands to specialty snacks. Even if you stay in a hotel for three or four days and change to a different restaurant every day, you won't have to repeat the experience.
If you want to find a quiet place to take a walk, you can take a taxi for 10 minutes to Hongqiao Central Garden. When you walk along the trail in the evening, you can see nearby residents flying kites with their children. The wind is full of the smell of wutong trees, and the tightness of the journey will soon disappear. If you want to check in to Shanghai's internet famous landmarks, take Line 2 from Hongqiao Metro Station near the hotel. It takes only 20 minutes to reach People's Square and 30 minutes to reach Nanjing East Road directly. I landed at Hongqiao T2 at 11pm late at night and followed the hotel's guide to the corridor. I didn't have to go outside and walked to the hotel entrance in about ten minutes. The whole journey didn't have to be exposed to wind and sun, and even the process of taking a taxi and waiting was saved. When checking in, the front desk specifically reminded me that the room had undergone double-layer sound insulation treatment, which would not be disturbed by the sound of airplanes taking off and landing. They also gave me a quick check-in tip for the morning flight, and even explained in advance the details of how breakfast could be packed and taken away the next day, instantly relieving the exhaustion of rushing late at night.
As soon as I pushed open the door, I felt like I had chosen the right place. There were no redundant fancy decorations in the space, and the overall color was a refreshing light gray tone. The bedding was fluffy and soft. I put my suitcase in the corner and collapsed onto the bed, relieving most of the soreness and bloating from traveling for more than ten hours. The most surprising thing was the small desk by the window, with just the right distribution of charging ports. After finishing my work email before going to bed, I could look up and see the dim lights of the terminal building in the distance. There was no expected noise, only the quiet of late night.
The next day, I caught the early flight at 7 o'clock. I thought I was going to travel hungry, but the hotel opened at 6 o'clock for breakfast.
